Made by Hayley Reed
Hayley Reed (they/them) was raised in Houston, Texas, and received their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Hayley makes pottery from their home studio in Seattle, WA.
Hayley creates functional pottery that’s vibrant, practical, and meant to be used and enjoyed every day. Hayley utilizes both wheel throwing and hand building techniques. They explore color, pattern, and texture in their works. Hayley uses Illustrator and Canva to bring their designs to life and uses a Cricut smart cutting machine to create custom stencils. After the stencils are applied, layers of slip and underglazes bring their pots to life.
Hayley finds joy in creating "Pride Pots," that celebrate and honor queer identities. By incorporating the vibrant colors of pride flags and other thoughtful designs, Hayley hopes their pieces infuse comfort, joy, and a sense of belonging to everyday life.
Hayley works as the marketing manager for local Seattle clay studios, Rain City Clay and
Rat City Studios. They also teach pottery classes, individual lessons, and group events at RCC.
