About the artist

Hayley Reed (they/them) was raised in Houston, Texas, and received their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Hayley recently moved to Savannah, GA from Seattle, WA. They previously worked as the marketing manager for local Seattle clay studios, Rain City Clay and Rat City Studios. They also taught sessional pottery classes, individual lessons, and group events at Rain City Clay. Hayley has 6 years of instructional experience teaching a variety of clay techniques and skill levels.

Hayley is currently in the process of setting up their home studio in Savannah, GA.

Hayley creates vibrant, functional pottery designed for everyday use and enjoyment. Their work explores color, pattern, and texture through a combination of wheel throwing and hand-building techniques. Using Illustrator and Canva to develop surface designs, Hayley brings their vision to life with the help of a Cricut smart cutting machine to produce custom stencils. Once applied, layers of slip and underglaze add depth and personality to each piece.

Hayley finds joy in creating "Pride Pots," that celebrate and honor queer identities. By incorporating the vibrant colors of pride flags and other thoughtful designs, Hayley hopes their pieces infuse comfort, joy, and a sense of belonging to everyday life.
